The purpose of the study was to investigate how students generalize and prove the factoring of using a Computer Algebra System application and the role of CAS in this process. The theoretical framework consists of the anthropological and the instrumental approach. In particular, the basis of the Task-Technique-Theorization(T-T-T) frame adapted form Chevallard`s anthropological approach of Didactics is utilized. We found that Technique-Theorization emerges in mutual interaction between paper-and-pencil techniques and computer algebra techniques. And this interaction led to the students` theoretical reflection and conceptual understanding. In this process, we could identify three epistemic role of CAS : the role of checking the result, the role of cognitive stimulation and the role of extending thinking. Therefore CAS plays on a epistemic role of checking the result of a task, stimulating the student` cognition and extending their thinking as well as pragmatic role of producing the result of a input.

Recently in South Korea, various methods are followed in decreasing educational gap between region and social classes through school education. The National Assessment Educational Achievement(NAEA) intends to strengthen responsibility of school education and manage quality of curriculum. Besides, the NAEA intends to bridge achievement gap which is one of educational gaps by grasping the characteristics of academic ability to guarantee basic academic ability. There is not much research about the educational gap among regional scales. Therefore in this study, to examine the achievement characteristics among regional scales closely, we analyse the 2010, 2011 NAEA results in elementary mathematics subject and explore characteristics of items which have sharp differences between local population sizes. The results of the analysis has been showed that the educational gap between ``big-sized cities`` and ``small and midium-sized cities`` has been increased, but the overall educational gap among regional scales has been decreased.

This study is a literature research on critical mathematics education. In this study, we analyzed the literature about critical theory and critical education, especially focused on Freire`s educational works. And also, we reviewed studies and lesson examples about critical mathematics education. The purpose of this research is to improve understanding about critical mathematics education. We found the connection between the goals, teaching methods and contents of critical mathematics education and Freire`s theory of critical pedagogy. Critical mathematics lessons stimulated student`s sense of social agency and induced student`s inquiry. Critical mathematics education has a merit on aspect of mathematical connection and communication by adopting social issues and student`s discussion in mathematics lessons. Although there are many obstacles to overcome, critical mathematics education is one of the educational direction to seek.

Effects on storytelling materials of statistics in the middle school classroom Lesson

The purpose of this study is to analyze effects on storytelling materials of statistics in the middle school classroom lesson. For this purpose, a story is developed by the Zazkis & Liljedahl`s model and applied to the 7th graders of 4 classes in a middle school. After the comparison between 5 hours of storytelling lessons and ordinary lessons. the following research findings are obtained. First, storytelling material brings a positive effect on student`s academic achievement. It is also shown by the qualitative analysis that this result was caused by cognition of data observation, data transformation, and unification of data with context. Second, storytelling material brings a positive effect on student`s affective attitude. It is also validated by the qualitative analysis that students show the positive change in mathematical value cognition and the interests in the lesson.

교수효능감은 교사가 교실에서 얼마나 효율적으로 가르칠 것인지를 예측하는 매우 강력한 구인이다. MTEBI는 초등 예비교사를 대상으로 수학 교수 효능감을 재는 유효한 척도이다. 그러나 MTEBI는 미국에서 개발되어 다른 문화에서 바로 사용할 수는 없다. 본 연구는 MTEBI가 한국에서 유효한 지에 대한 실증적 조사이다. 먼저, 영문의 MTEBI를 국문으로 번역하고, 번역한 것을 다수의 수학교사 교육자가 철저하게 검토하였다. 그다음, 506명의 예비 초등교사 표본에서 정규성, 신뢰도, 타당도 등의 통계적 검정을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 한글판 MTEBI의 하위척도인 PMTE와 MTOE의 알파계수가 각각 .836과 .705이었다. 이로써 한글판 MTEBI가 한국에서 효능감 연구에 사용할 수 있을 만큼 믿을 수 있고 문항 구성이 타당함을 입증하였다. 나아가 본 연구에서 제시된 영문판을 바탕으로 한국과 교육에 대한 전통과 문화가 비슷한 이웃 문화에서도 효능감 연구가 일어나기를 기대한다.

The study of multicultural education for preservice teachers in Gangwon-do who major in mathematics education

The purpose of this research is to study a perception of multicultural education for preservice teachers who major in mathematics. The research has been done on the data collected from 126 preservice teachers in Gangwon-do who major in mathematics. The data collected include experience of multiculturalism, multicultural efficacy, multicultural understanding and multicultural sensitivity. The data have been analyzed by reliability test, t-test, one-way anova and pearson correlation. Most of preservice teachers who major in mathematics have had no experience of multiple cultures. But they have shown a high perception on multicultural education and a significant positive correlation on their experience of multiculturalism, multicultural efficacy and multicultural sensitivity. Furthermore, the female preservice teachers` multicultural efficacy, multicultural understanding and multicultural sensitivity are much more high than the male preservice teachers`. The difference between different sex has been statistically significant.

이 연구의 목적은 수학 교수 학습에서 수학에서의 기본과 창의성에 대한 한국 초등교사들의 인식에 대하여 분석해 보는 것이다. 모든 국가의 경제나 교육에 있어서 수학에서의 기본과 창의성을 강화하는 것이 가장 중요한 문제이다. 그 동안 수학에서의 기본과 창의성에 대한 한국 초등교사들의 인식에 대하여 연구한 사례는 거의 없었다. 이 연구를 위한 연구 방법으로 116명의 초등학교 교사들에게 설문지를 통하여 수학에 대한 기본 및 창의성에 대한 인식을 분석하였고, 개방형 질문을 사용하여 필요한 교사들을 대상으로 반구조적인 면담을 실시하였다. 교사들이 수학의 기본과 창의성에 대하여 중요한 것으로 강조를 하고 있으나 수학과의 교수 학습에서 학생들에게 이를 적절하게 강화시키는 데는 어려움을 가지고 있었다. 연구의 결과 교사들이 수학의 기본과 창의성에 대하여 교수 학습에서 학생들에게 이를 적절하게 지도하는 할 수 있도록 하기 위한 예비교사 및 현직교사들의 교육이 필요함을 지적하였다. 그리고 수학교육에서 학생들의 기본 및 창의성을 신장을 돕기 위하여 교사들에게 풍부한 자료의 제공이 필요함을 제안하였다.

A study on the effects of the reciprocal peer tutoring in high school students` affective characteristics of mathematics

The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of the reciprocal peer tutoring in high school students` affective characteristics with respect to mathematics. The study was conducted with 111 first graders in one high school located in Gyeonggi-do, and the study lasted for 1 year in regular mathematics classrooms. According to the results, reciprocal peer tutoring was very effective in improving students` interest and self-efficacy toward mathematics and reducing mathematics anxiety. Especially, in high and low performing student groups, there were statistically significant improvements in affective factors such as interest, self-efficacy toward mathematics, and mathematics anxiety after reciprocal peer tutoring. However, average performing student group showed statistically significant improvements in affective factors of interest and self-efficacy toward mathematics.
